Wow everyones being so harsh! It seems to me that he IS interested. You said that he was really shy...he just doesn't know what to do around you. He's afraid that if he tries to make a move or something you would just turn him down (which would crush down his low self esteem even further...)

So what he's really wanting you to do is to take initiative and go after him! He will come around very fast after he knows that there is a connection.
