It is not a fact that you can't support the baby. Remember in the Middle ages girls as young as 13 have been mothers and there still exist such young mothers in US albiet with social security and stuff. Biologically once you are an adolescent you are capable of giving birth to a baby and bringing it up. The health complications which teenage mothers face is not because of their age but because of the fact that they are not well taken care of like a mother who is an adult and going to have a baby.

In the middle ages girls it was perfectly normal for girls to get pregnant. Now we don't usually move out of our parents' houses until we're 18. We don't usually have to pay for electric, rent, food, etc. yet. As teenagers we are perfectly able to handle the physical aspect of a baby, but we are not usually financially stable enough, and often we are not emotionally stable enough either. THAT is the difference between the middle ages and now, and that is why teenage pregnancy is often not seen as appropriate. |
