It seems like this guy was just in for the chase. A lot of guys are like that. They like challenges, and when you give in, and finally give him what he's after, then he's no longer interested. You need to sit him down and figure out what's going on. You need to ask him to be straight up with you.
If he avoids it, then you need to just be away from him. He's no good for you if he's not willing to be straight up with you. Mixed signals are awful, and you have every right to know what's going on. So just sit him down, talk it out. Hope this helps.
