I like it that you're honest. I don't think you should feel offended and I also don't think you're overreacting. I think it's normal to feel the way you do in a situation like this. Believe me I have also experienced similar situations and I felt the same way you did. Your coach didn't mean to offend you. It's part of his job to make sure each member of the team is having a good relationship with his team mates. Therefore his question was normal. He was probably worrying about you. Like you said (he doesn't know you yet) just give him some time to do it. He wasn't trying to say your anti-sociable if that's why you feel a bit offended. I'm sure you're a very friendly person.
