My last few girlfriends from the past 2 years have all been from a different school than me. I wouldn't have met them if it weren't for the things I did outside of school. 2 of them I met from work (though those were really spontaneous relationships and went nowhere), and 2 others from tennis (1 of them went to my school, but I wouldn't have met her if I didn't play tennis).

If I didn't get a job 2 years ago and if I never picked up a tennis racket, I probably would have been girlfriendless for the last 2 years. If you get yourself out more and meet new people, you're bound to meet someone. Try getting a job somewhere where there are a lot of employees, so that you can meet as many new people as possible. Don't be too nice to someone you think you may end up liking, but don't be a jerk either. Mix in some nice with some teasing and stuff like that, it's always the perfect combination.
