I wouldn't go as far as to say that the entire Christian population is foolish, certainly there are extremist sects who take the word of the Bible so literally that they believe the world was created 8,000 years ago, these are the people you refer to, completely oblivious and ignorant of science.

There are a lot of Christians who take the Bible as mere interpretation. There are very good values to lead your life by, one really can't debate its a good thing to steal, kill, cheat on your spouse, a lot of the values of the Bible mirror our own laws as a society, these reformed Christians are quite open to the idea that the Bible probably isn't exactly how things went down 2000 years ago, but the teachings are still there.

Regardless of what you believe in I think we can all agree that living a good life is what is most important.

And your absolutely free to live as you see fit.
Don't even get involved with that thumper. You'll find out pretty quick (if not already) that his debating style consists of calling people idiots the second his arguments get disproved. It'll be a waste of time on your part.
