Or maybe you knew her 1st and last name and searched her and added her and haven't done anything since? I wonder if it's considered creepy / how creepy it would be to just send her a message on Bebo or something.
As far as her being older than you, most girls prefer hanging out with guys / do stuff with guys that are x years younger than x inches shorter.

If she lives down the street, couldn't your family get to know her family? And then the 2 familes can arrange to have barbecues out on the front yard (or for the families in the street).
And do you 2 go to the same school? I guess you're stuck for the summer.
