When I did, though, one of them said she had thought for a long time that I was and was really glad that I got up the nerve to tell her, and the other (who is homophobic, no joke) said she didn't approve but she loved me too much to care. A while after that, I didn't go around telling people, but I didn't deny it if they asked, and now I'm pretty sure most people I'm friends with at all know. I don't directly tell anybody, though.
I told my mum by accident shortly after I started dating my girlfriend (whom I have been dating for almost 11 months). I'm still not exactly sure what she thinks of it, to be honest.
But I guess just go for it or don't, depending on how you think people will react.
