Money: 250,135 My Mood: Points: 271,543, Level: 100 | | Server Ram Upgraded To 768 MB The server's ram has been upgraded to 768 MB. I noticed that several times during peak hours or due to traffic + scheduled tasks, the ram was eaten up (all 512mb) and site went down.
I hope that some issues are resolved by a little extra spending on Ram.
However another big issue is the server attacks we face that increases the server load to extra high and site goes down. Since I am no computer geek, it will take time to resolve this issue.

I suck with computers. I only know the basics.
But like, if you have more RAM, more people can be on? |

More members, more posts, more activities and all that. More RAM is like a bigger seating capacity in a stadium so that more people can watch the game.
As for technical definition, anybody who understand RAM probably understands what it does so I can save myself that explanation.

So you must have more ram to accomodate that much traffic. Plus it doesn't only depend on traffic. Many people have switched on things like " email notifications of updates of posts and threads". Which sends emails everyday. So sending emails also eats processes and Ram. There, more the people, more ram eaten. And specially at peak times when traffic is high, the tasks are also performed too many, Ram goes over the limit - Site down.
More ram means, site will be able to withstand that many tasks and traffic, so site wont go down.
But it has nothing to do with the processor, there is no upgrade of processor.

Servers are as CPU intensive as memory intensive so it has to balance out both ways. Plus Apache-Linux based server consume a lot less RAM than a Windows system hence it gets additional boost.
