In your welcome bar(top right), all the unread posts will be counted. There will be a link that will take you to the new posts that have been made since your last visit. They will stay there till you have logged out. And when you login again later, you will see the number of posts made since you logged out.
I am not sure if this feature will stay or not, for now I am testing this. This tells us how many posts have been made since we last visited.
EDIT : - It also tells you if you have any new reputation comments to check.
