Is it wrong of me to think it's ridiculous to spend over $2000 to save a cat...? Especially when there are no guarantees that the surgery will work...

Well my mother in law just spent over 2000 dollars to get their cat intestinal surgery. Turns out the cat had a string wrapped around the back of it's tongue, down into it's stomach and intestines. The string put holes in the cat's intestines, and caused bowel to drain out of it's intestines, so the cat now has sepsis. They had to remove part of it's intestine completely. Now they're sending him to the 24 hour vet hospital so now it's going to cost even more money and the cat is in critical care. It's really sad but it's going to be incredibly expensive. :/
