Another common question is to ask whether or not there is a purpose to life.
At the most fundamental level, the purpoe of life is to create proteins. The cell is the most basic form (unit) of life and the purpose of cells is to create proteins. In this sense, all living things are made of cells.
This, of course, doesn't tell us what the purpose of life is on the macro scale.
I think what you're really asking is what is the purpose of human life, and not that of life in general, on the biological level. There is, of course, many such answers in the psychological level, such as human volition.
1 particular argument is that the purpose of life is to fight death. And every day you wake up and win, until 1 day you don't. This is on the instinctive basis.
This is on the basis, that the opposite of life, is death.
However, the opposite of birth, is also death, so it really depends on how you define life. Otherwise we can stick around playing with weasel words all day. | thats like saying where is the universe, how was god created (if there is one) WHY???
