Hi friends,
We arrived home to Kalymnos at 5:30 pm yesterday, took the fast boat from Kos with my family.
I can not describe how wonderful it feels to be back home at the island where I was born. It almost feels surreal because now I have one foot in England and one foot on Greece. Naturally on arrival here I hoisted up my country's flag - to tell my friends and neighbours I was back. Since last night I had 15 call round. It felt just wonderful!
Although it's only been 24 hours more or less since leaving, feels as if I've been in Greece all the time. Does it feel strange when you go abroad and then come home again? Well that is how I'm feeling now but my body is still running GMT - 2 hours behind.
But it also is a great feeling to be back with you all. So now it's time I should go to bed: time now being 1:15 AM. That's Greek Maybe Time, though.
See you later!
Best,
Poppi

And this will give us more time to enjoy a proper holiday. I went fishing today but caught nothing. But it's the pleasure of getting out on the water in a hired boat and I loved every minute of it being at the helm.
When I was back in England I happened to say "feels as if I've been living here for ages". Today in Kalymnos I said the same thing. Strange isn't it? But this evening I was faced with temptation - everyone was drinking beer over dinner. But I stayed off it so I can become less dependent on the stuff. So I got through the evening without even so much as a sip. Tell you what though - green tea citrus never tasted so good!
Been really hot today in Pothia. That's the island's maritime capital and it's always 4 or 5 degrees hotter than anywhere else. Well, guess what? Even after 4-5 weeks in England I'm having to re-acclimatize myself! Been sweating like a pig. Hmm well.. maybe just a lil' pig then.
Best,
Poppi |
