Beginner Photography

I've recently gotten back into my photography, as I haven't been doing a lot in the last few years! So, I'm starting again and I thought I'd show you guys some of the stuff I've done. I really need help choosing another camera though...my birthday's coming up so I'm looking to get a fairly decent camera so I can start taking better pictures.

These are fairly new (last two are my older ones)

New stuff:

It's a Fujifilm FinePix s5800. Had it for about three years and it's been really good up to now, but I'm just looking for something better, and I'm not sure what. Any recommendations?

That depends on your budget, what you shoot, and how serious you intend on becoming. Answer those and I can help you out.

Mm...okay well I am pretty serious about it. Thing is I shoot just about anything, from portrait to landscape, so I need a camera that's pretty versatile. As for budget - I'm becoming a university student in a month, so it's pretty low!

Re: Beginner Photography

The thing with better cameras if you go DSLR, it's not about the camera, it's the lenses, and lenses cost more than cameras, if you don't have a good 2K to cover a good amount of focal lengths(being able to "zoom in" and out a lot) I recommend getting a good compact cam, you can even find shock and waterproof ones.

I don't really recommend a bridge(like you have now) because it combines the downsides of both compacts and DLSRs... small sensor in a big and heavy package that is uncomfortable to transport, a compact can just be in your pocket all day.

I really like these, particularly the swan one.
Sorry that I can't help on the camera issue.

Re: Beginner Photography

Like Dexter said, bridge isn't the way to go.
Especially if you plan on doing more photography in the future, then the best suggestion is an entry-level DSLR. There is lots to choose from for your budget. If you want to buy used, you can buy a Canon Rebel XTi with a lens for around $400.
Lenses are of course, the biggest investment for a DSLR, and you pay through the nose for quality.

Thanks guys.

I'll have a look at an entry-level DSLR, it sounds like what I'm looking for
