That's true yes, but if you could see half my ex-boyfriends you would see that they aren't the best looking.
Yes, looks may be the first reaction you will get from a girl but that won't make the deal. Make her laugh, or smile. Be yourself. Just because you can't find someone now doesn't mean that you are not a good person. Just wait it out, and stop searching. She will come to you when you least expect it.

Anyway, you can't just make girls like you, no matter what you do. Also, it depends what you're looking for. Are you after a specific girl? Then either she'll like you or she won't. Are you looking for a lot of girls to have shallow crushes on you for the ego boost? Then you'll need to be attractive. Are you looking for a meaningful, long-term relationship? Then there's nothing you can do. It's just a matter of finding the right person. Are you looking for for any girl out there to have a crush on you and become your girlfriend because you're lonely and pathetic? **edit by PB**
