Latest? Well ... depends on how your senior ball is organized. My school had these contracts you had to fill out and you had to have it turned in by a certain date. If you were taking someone outside of the school we had to have them in by just after spring break. If you're going by yourself and you plan to ask someone who is also going by themselves well ... for our school I think you could pretty much ask up until table sign ups.
That's just the way our school organized it though otherwise ...

Depends on whether she has her dress or not. Asking at the last minute without her having a dress is a big no-no usually. If they have a dress, are attending and have no date, 2 days before is usually the latest.
