Boy Help?

Alright, here's the rundown:
I've been liking this boy for a while (a month or so) but I don't have the courage to ask him out. According to a lot of people he likes me back (judging by the way he acts around me) but I'm not so sure.

Today is his birthday and I got him a ton of presents which he seemed to appreciate a lot. Another thing is that his MSN name implied that he liked someone and they rejected him but I was too scared to ask. Maybe it means a totally different thing, but who knows?

Anyhow, -longstoryshort- I'm wondering: should I ask him out or wait?

I'm scared of both options because
1) If he says no it'll be really awkward for our friendship
2) If I wait too long, he might find someone else

dont wait waithing suck then you never no what u could have had and it hurts more thinkin how it could be you with him instead of her it sucks believe me just tell him your really like him and want to have something together

Cuz if you wont - you'll loose him to someone els.
