Troop build-up, where do you stand...

Bush is pushing hard for a troop build-up in Iraq. Lets dust off our history books. Guerrilla warfare is hard to beat. Recent history is full of defeat by a large regular army in the hands of a ragtag band of freedom fighters. Chiang's nationalist army was driven to Taiwan, the US hurriedly evacuated Vietnam, and the vaunted Soviet army was disgraced in Afghanistan.

The current conflict in Iraq is more political/religious than military. I don't think it can be solved by a military build-up. More soldiers on the ground just means more body bags going home.
