What do you think will be the ultimate 'end of the world' scenario for humans, and when? Please post possibilites of paths of mankind in the near to middle future, good or bad.

I hear it's gonna be a meteor that does us in.

Bad Scenario : Nukes, we'll probably end up blowing ourselves up, red buttons are hard to resist pushing , either this or a really bad virus, meteor, or some other catastrophe such as global warming boiling us all.

Middle : Technology doesn't advance much, we don't develop the technology for speedy space travel and much cleaner fuels, and many of the worlds problems are'nt fixed, its an ok scenerio, but not exactly great, sorta depressing actually.

Good Scenario : Humanity will continue to survive, getting over petty things like war and hate, helping one another to end poverty and solving global warming with safer, alternatives to fossil fuel, eventually colonizing outer space using advanced technology and reaching for the stars, and although i won't be alive then i wish for scenario this the most.

This sounds terrible, i'm content with the current era.

Hate and war = people.
Helping each other is just meh, laziness.
Solve global warming? i'd rather not change my lifestyle.
Space should just stay as sci-fi, it's a yawn fest out there.

i reckon we'll all blow ourselves up very, very soon.
or kill each other.
or just die out coz we'll all hate each other over stupid little things.

I' had believed that human, like all species, with poorer genetics will die out, unfortunately, we incessantly breed regardless of our defects so i'm really hoping that an epidemic (be it on human or crops) would break out that would control the crazy human population. It would benefit the enviroment and our own kind *point to public schools* I really doubt that nukes will be with us anytime soon for unlike back in truman's time, once a bomb goes, so will the rest of them. No country would risk that. Likewise with the global warming. We only care about it now because of the growing human pop b/c up carbon dioxide=no sunlight= no plant growth=less food for the ppl= inflation. But with all the GM food and advancement in the agricultural field, i guess we can substain ourselves for another few millenium. So our future is looking very good, too good.

actually plenty of people would risk nuclear war if they could get their hands on some nukes. Ahmadinejad seems rather fearless about using them. Also various terrorist organizations, especially ones that don't care about dying, would use them. also why do you say you hope there is an epidemic that kills lots of people. there are better ways to make sure there is enough food and shelter for everyone. im sure you wouldn't be willing to die in an effort to reduce world population, so you shouldn't hope that anyone else dies.

also implying that you hope an epidemic will happen in order to get rid of those with "poorer genetics" is sickening. we live in a civilized society, we should treat people fairly, even those with "poorer genetics".

I think humans will destroy themselves directly with WMDs. either nuclear weapons or biological, or maybe some more powerful super weapon of the future, but one way or another i think we will destroy ourselves with weapons. unfortunately it is the nature of man is to fight against others for resources and land and beliefs. i dont think complete world peace is a possibility, as much as i wish it was. so in the future as more and more powerful weapons are developed they will make even more damage possible and eventually the wrong people will get their hands on them.

I've heard that before...From "Dawn of the Dead" I think....I'm a Gore-Hor, real big on bloody movies that involve death.

I'll be funny and say "Zombies"....Then we really will be in a living Hell. Interesting, huh?

Or, maybe it'll be like "The Omega Man" and a chemical wipes us all out. But in the movie only one man is truly immune, and he later meets others how are sick but haven't started changing [or mutating] yet... And at the very end, he dies in a water fountain shown in the same position as Jesus on the cross. Because he gave up the last of his blood the save the other people, so that they could keep living on.

Or the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will come and take us to our fates. [Conquer (white horse), War (red horse), Famine (black horse), and Death (pale horse)]

Eh...But who really knows? I'll put my money on the Four Horsemen or even Samael [bad] and Gabriel [good] as the "Angels of Death". Who but who is himself really knows the answer to this question? Ne?

Actually, it's been said as either one... I honestly haven't done too much research on it, but does it really matter? If that were the case it'd be War, Pestilence, Famine, and Death. And why would war not be the red horse?
