Are you scared of being crazy?
In my family I've dealt with more than enough mental illnesses and I wonder if people are scared of being labeled as insane.
Insane being a loss of grip with reality.

Re: Are you scared of being crazy?
I've already got enough problems to be called crazy as it is.
I appear normal, but one little thing could trigger me into something rather dangerous. And has done before. It is scary, damn straight.

Is it a legit problem or people just being ignorant of your individuality?

Re: Are you scared of being crazy?
I've actually been diagnosed with a few different psychological disorders and, at first, I was terrified. Its weird thinking you're just a normal kid and then some psychiatrists say, "hey kid, you're crazy, take these drugs and stuff." I guess I'm don't fit the definition of insane that you do, I can tell what's real and what isn't. I just sometimes didn't behave the way society expects people to behave. But I take all the right pills, so I can function in SoCieTy.
I think the LABEL insane is something to be afraid of- it means that people will treat you weird... and if everyone treats you weird how are you supposed to learn to interact normally? But if someone I knew were to realize that they were insane I would tell them not to worry. Plenty of us crazies get more enjoyment out of life than most normal people.

Legit problem. I suffer from seasonal affective disorder, which is depression due to a lack of endorphins in my head, caused by a lack of sunlight - pretty much in winter I get really really down and start to go insane.
I also believe that I suffer from split personality disorder too, but this hasn't been diagnosed.

Not all mental disorders put you in the realm of insanity, most of them just make you seem odd to Society like you said. I was probably too blunt in that defenition.
I think having Societal norms being shoved down out throats 24/7 is enough to make some people go insane.
Your totally right that many insane people live much happier lives than others. Great Point!

My half brother has that. It can be a real bummer but he finds that it helps when he was living in Cali. Now that he lives near Salem Or, hes back to being all sad during winter.
There isnt a split personality disorder but there is Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly Multiple Personality Disorder), DID is a much more difficult to diagnose and it is farely rare. I know a good chunk about that also if you ever want to talk. I know im not a psychiatrist but I have first hand experience.
Sorry about your seasonal affective disorder, Its wierd kind of because I feel better in winter and worse in summer. I never liked the hot.....anyways.
Peace and Love

I'm not crazy...I don't think I see things like God and shit. I'm normal.

Re: Are you scared of being crazy?
You know, not really. I think mental disorders do run in my family, but we are ashamed of them and we like to pretend they don't exist - hence the lack of any official diagnoses. Lately I've been pretty good about getting myself under control though. I can think rationally enough to know when I'm not thinking rationally. I also have enough willpower to stop myself from doing anything that is blatantly stupid. I think I'll be forever secretly depressed, but for the most part I know I'll be fine.
