Debate Etiquette Suggestions (Please Read)
I would like to compile a list of guidelines for general debate etiquette that we'd like people to follow when posting in debate threads. I would like to hear from members what they would like to feature in the guidelines because you're posting there! Please post any serious suggestions below
Thank you,
Tomski

Re: Debate Etiquette (Please Read)
I think one big obvious one is not to bash other people based on their ideas or beliefs. This section tends to get off topic a lot, and those who don't agree with others bash the members instead. We can't have that.

Re: Debate Etiquette (Please Read)
While debating I hate when another person tries to put you down because of your views instead of trying to persuade you to think their way. So I think it should be against the rules to blatantly put down another member because of their views.

Yeah, that one would have to feature prominantly in the guidelines I think Jon.

Re: Debate Etiquette Suggestions (Please Read)
err bit rbbish but all I can think of at the moemnt
Imagine being on the receiving end of anything that you post online. How would it make you feel to read any of the things you have posted? Or, how SHOULD it make you feel?
like empathy, don't give out what you wouldn't want to see yourself.
Online Etiquette is important.

Re: Debate Etiquette Suggestions (Please Read)
I think there needs to be a rule distinguishing a discussion from an argument, eventually it gets to throwing stones (I've fallen into that trap) and its quite rediculous.

Work to undermine the point, not the person making the point.

Re: Debate Etiquette Suggestions (Please Read)
(This is going to be useless for certain but...) There is an ample number of posts that are simply not relevant to debating. Instead, they focus on nonsensical chitchat. At any rate, it's normal to expect people debating or discussing serious topics, and not inconsequential talks. Second, many members don't have a proper reason or basis for contentions.
