In the mythology of the Aztecs, the first age of mankind ended with the animals devouring humans. The second age was finished by wind, the third by fire, and the fourth by water. The present fifth epoch is called Nahui-Olin (Sun of Earthquake), which began in 3113 BC and will end on December 24, 2011. It will be the last destruction of human existence on Earth. The date coincides closely with that determined by the brothers McKenna in The Invisible Landscape as “the end of history” indicated by their computer analysis of the ancient Chinese oracle-calendar, the I Ching.
The Mayan calendar is divided into Seven Ages of Man. The fourth epoch ended in August 1987. The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Only a few people will survive the catastrophe that ensues. In the fifth age, humanity will realize its spiritual destiny. In the sixth age, we will realize God within ourselves, and in the seventh age we will become so spiritual that we will be telepathic. "

I do believe that the world will change dramatically over the next four to six years but it won't end. Just like many other superstitions, the one about the Mayan calendar and how it doesn't go any further than Dec. 21 2012 (though as Drifta said there might be things written in the Mayan ruins past this date), and how this might be the end of the world is just superstition.
As I was looking up this subject on the internet I found a site called, 'Project Camelot', that brought attention to me. You might want to especially check out the video on David Wilcock on the site as he explains this subject more in detail in a portion of the video.
I know that you can't trust everything on the internet, but after all that has been happeing throughout the years (terrible hurricanes in the past years, earthquakes and bad tsunamis globally, terrible condition of our Mother Earth, how the Bush admin. and others involved has completely ripped apart our world), it makes sense that there will be great change in the upcoming years.
But that's just MHO, don't flame me.

Re: December 12th 2012: The End Of The World
Is it because the Mayans said so? Man, Fuck the Mayans....they thought the world was flat. So now you believe this?
I believe in God, not the Mayans.

If I wake up that morning - The only thing I am going to say is "Fuck! I have to go to work."

Re: December 12th 2012: The End Of The World
I don't know what I should believe in, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
And it's not only the mayan calendar, it's also a biblecode that say that a asteorid is going to collide with the earth.
I've heard that the mayans should have predicted the world wars.
But I will try not to care about it when the day comes. =)

Re: December 12th 2012: The End Of The World
It was discovered a few years ago that on that precise date, the earth will be on the "equator" of the universe/solar system/whatever (I can't remember), and it's possible that the earth's crust will shift as a result. If it happens slowly, it will cause a shitload of problems. If it happens quickly, we all die. And it's been shown that it's happened before.
So ya, it's not all a bunch of random predictions. It's just that the Mayans knew about it years and years before we did.

Re: December 12th 2012: The End Of The World
would it be an end due to a natural disaster.. probly not. but from humankind, most definatly. i mean sure i dont think it could happen. but some sicko out their could blow this whole fuckin place up. their are already enough nukes to blow the world up tenfold jus think how many their will be in 2012. so im on the fence on this one. if some leader of a country is crazy enough to do it beacause the mayans said it, then we're screwed.
so natural disastor no
human-kind extinction small possibility

Um. You do realise it takes, like, 5 years to develop one nuke, right? (At least, according to what I read.)
And you apparently didn't read my last post. It's kinda important, ya know? >.>

Re: December 12th 2012: The End Of The World
shit! i don't believe even a piece of it...
i know that there will be a time that earth can't support life anymore, but 2012 is just too early. And scientists have already stated in some books that i've read before that earth could still provide life for thousands of years.
So why worry about it?
