i think this is quite funny a guy on msn gave me like an hour long lecture about it cause he really thinks its going to happen like people have said it will happen one day but i doubt so soon

I'm not going to be ignorant and say no, I would have to look into it some more before I come to a conclusion.

I don't think this one is quite a publicized as much as the 2000 end of world theory.

EDIT: After my research I have come across two possibilities that may well wipe Earth of all it's life.

1. The Mayans were incredibly good at building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone... Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Solar Storms, solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.

Eh, make your own mind up, I'm still undecided but the Solar Storm thing makes pretty good evidence.

They're predictiing the world will end switching from " 12 to 13 ". Just like we predicted the world would end switching from 1999 to 2000, and of course again in 2006. They're predicting it because its the change of a 'milenium' or whatever they call it in mayan terms.

Also keep in mind that people have predicted the wolrd would end in 2000, 2006 and now 2012. Notice anything there? I'll bet anything that in 2012 that they will predict the 'end of the world again'. So it will be 2000, 2006, 2012 and 2018, all 6 years apart, ultimatly putting together '666'. It's just a prediction, nothing more. I don't think anyone should belive it. ALSO, they're predicting the world will end in 2036. Are you kidding me?

2000 + 6 = 2006 + 6 = 2012 + 6 = 2018 + 6 = 2024 + 6 = 2030 + 6 = 2036

Every single end of the world prediction is exactly 6 years apart, I don't think thats just a coincidence. Personally I think there are just alot of paranoid people out there.

No I do not believe that the end of the world will be December 12th 2010. There is no scientific truth, and no scientific basis to that assumption. However we all have the rights to our opinions. No one knows when the world will end. I want to know what do you consider the end of the world? Do you mean the extinction of the human race, the day the earth's core stops spinning, or something else?

If you're going to take the Mayan calender for the end of the world, it would only make sense to also take it as the beginning of the world, which is utterly ridiculous.
I heard something somewhere that their 2012 was our 42 years ago or something along those lines, search it yourself if you want more info/want to correct me/etc.
