Why is it teens aren't responsible enough to have a good paying job!?
Why is it that adults think their better & deserve to make more money? Us teens always get stuck with anywhere between $2 to $8 an hour for a measly little job like babysitting, mowing the lawn, walking a dog or worse, scooping the doggy no-nos. Adults always seem to think a teenager isn't responsible enough to have privilege of working at a high paying restaurant or golf course or something. Instead we are the ones babysitting our little brothers & sisters for a $10 a night. I really feel adults need to get a life. They had to deal with it so they want us to feel what its like! I say fuck all you adults. Your mostly idiots anyways.

Re: Why is it teens aren't responsible enough to have a good paying job!?
You can get better jobs, most teens just go for jobs like fast food and such because they have no experience or they think they just wouldn't get a better job anyways.
that's not true i had 3 jobs, one of them was a receptionist i mean you don't need to a genius to do that all you need is to know the basics of a computer really. easy.
try harder (:

Harden the fuck up. I'm 17 and got a good paying job ($14.50 NZ an hr). I started at the bottom just cleaning the floors and shit at this local cafe, then got waiting and that kind of stuff. Now I'm head barista (coffee maker) and I do the cooking when the head chef ain't there.
You only get shit jobs like that 'cause you don't try.

Re: Why is it teens aren't responsible enough to have a good paying job!?
I've been told liability reasons.
I applied at a dozen places before I actually got a job.
I tried getting a job a grocery store, but I can't cuz I'm only 15, because I'm not allowed to touch alcohol- so I can't bag it etc.
Oh, but once I turn 16, bagging alcohol becomes magically okay. Yeah. Total sense.
I just recently got a job in fast food. But I'm not allowed to touch any of the food or ovens, friers etc so all I can do it work the cash register and clean.
16 is like that magic age where you can ATTEMPT at getting a job in the real world apparently... for minimum wage at least.

Because teens are inexperienced and uneducated workers.
I guarantee you, you are making the same amount as anyone else with a college or highschool degree is.

Incented to post by real experience, I assume?
Salaries should tie in with experience. At your age, you should expect to get low wages. No one starts off with a six figure salary.

Re: Why is it teens aren't responsible enough to have a good paying job!?
well most teens dont have a college degree. People are only going to higher people with the knowledge and on site experience (internship) and ability to do the job. I guess i dont blame them. Also if you were to finish highschool early and get a college degree you COULD start working a real job at a younger age. I mean i heard on the news some like whiz kid 11 year old is going to college now So that choice is always in your hands if you want to put in the extra hours and hours of studying to get to that level. But since your going to be working the rest of your life why not just enjoy your time now.

Irony gold.
Edit-Oh and why are you complaining about the $8 an hour jobs? The federal minimum wage in the US is significantly lower than that.

Re: Why is it teens aren't responsible enough to have a good paying job!?
Good paying jobs are based almost always on experience. You gotta start out on the bottom to work your way up. And from that post, you don't seem like you'd be very competent anyway.
Even an adult won't be able to get a good paying job if they have no experience.

Depends where you are. Minimum wage here in California is $8, and it's going up either later this year or January of next.

That's state though, not federal, and my post was referring to federal minimum wage.

See, this is the kind of piss poor attitude I see all the time from teenagers these days, and I can't stand it.
First, you don't HAVE to be a babysitter or a dog walker, for god's sake. There's clothing retail, fast food, waiting/busing tables at sit-down restaurants...there are numerous jobs out there for teens. Job responsibilities may differ between teens of different ages, but it's only because of labor laws and liability issues. If you want to get a different job so bad, then quit being lazy and go look for one. It's that simple!
Second, if you want higher wages, you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. I know a lot of people who have done this. In fact, I know a girl who started working at McDonald's early on in high school and had been promoted to assistant manager by the time she was like 19 or 20 years old. She didn't get the job from sitting on her ass all day; she did the work and EARNED the job with higher pay. She did all of that while still going to school to become a nurse. It all comes from one thing: HARD WORK.
Reiteration: Employers paying higher wages want people with experience, not some teenager walking in off the street with no work experience or ethic. It's the same with an adult who's had no work experience or college degree. You can't get everything handed to you.
Third, do you know how many adults in this world are still probably working minimum wage jobs just to get by? And what about those adults (like myself) who are working those same jobs AND going to college to start a career? Are they "fucking idiots?" I think not.

That's called helping out around the house. God forbid you should do it once in a while. Also, most teens these days are immature, ignorant, cocky, and lazy. Nor do they have the job experience / knowledge to work at a better paying job. So they deserve the crappier paying jobs. This is why you go to college and earn an education and get a better job. AS AN ADULT
