Re: VA Tech Massacre
I am absolutely outraged by the way this was handled. The first shooting happens at 7:15 in the morning, and most of the students don't know about it until it's too late. The campus should have been shut down completely after the first incident, no matter if they thought it had been contained. The university did not do a good job at protecting their students, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are taken to court for liability.
I am so angry that I'm shaking as I type this. I just can't believe this happened.
My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones. This is truly tragic, and I hope the "person of interest" in the first shooting is brought to justice.
This makes me feel not-so-safe anymore.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
Whatever the final result, the mere fact that the shooting took place is absolutely abhorrid, the responce even more so. But it does remind me of the Brian Nichols incident. So many killed, in plain sight, and he is still in court. Hopefully, this shall not be the case.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
In all reality.
This news shouldn't surprise anyone.
Unfortunatley we live in a society where we sit at the edge of our seats waiting for the next big thing to happen.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
Indeed, quite sad. These courts will take an eternity. Leaving the descision to be made by people who are seldom equipped to make the descision and leaving justice to Lawyers who do not know right from wrong. Barring some sort of medical or phycological reason for this shooting, the criminalt must be execuded.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
On CNN.com, there is a video of an eyewitness account from a girl who pretended to be dead as the shooter went on his rampage in Norris Hall. She describes him very accurately.
It's under "Student: I pretended to be dead".

Re: VA Tech Massacre
Then he must be arrested. And executed. To kill in cold blood for no reason is unforgivable.

This shooter is dead. The one that she describes killed himself. He was the second shooter.
The first shooter has not been identified. They have a "person of interest" in custody for the first shooting, but they don't know if both shootings are connected. They haven't gotten the ballistics back yet to make that conclusion.
Personally, I think it isn't likely that these shootings aren't connected. Two shootings in one day, on one particular campus? Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
Have you ever noticed that it's american schools that are having so many shootings? Makes you wonder what we're doing wrong that others aren't. Though, maybe I'm misinformed and the other countries have it just as bad as us.
All in all, it just makes me glad that i'm homeschooled.
And I do feel so badly for the families that lost loved ones, and the injured as well. I can only hope that they are able to overcome the pain eventually.

You bring up a good point. I haven't ever heard of any mass school killings in any other countries. If anyone else has, please let us know!

I'm sorry if you thought I was implying that there were multiple shooters. While it is a possibility, it's also possible that this "person of interest" was not involved at all the in first shooting and that the shooter that killed himself could possibly be the one who shot the male and female at Ambler Hall (the freshman dorm).
It is my opinion that there were two shooters and that these shootings are connected and not merely coincidence.
I feel so bad for those who have injured and dead loved ones. I wish there was something I could do, but I don't know what.

Re: VA Tech Massacre
Why do those details really matter.
The damage is done.
It's over.

It does matter because if there were two shooters in this catastrophe, the other one needs to be brought to justice. That's why it matters.
The shooter at Norris Hall has been identified as 23 year old, Cho Seung-Hui, a senior English major at V. Tech.
For major updates, CNN.com is a good place to look.
