Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
This is a subject in which i wanted to know what other teenagers thought of, (and in case you from other counties read this, your opinons are very much welcome)
In the political world, the Republicans are loosing alot of credibility and most are expecting a Democratic president for the 2008 presidential elections. the three most popular candidates are Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards (i really hope i spelled those right)
the two popular hopefuls out of that are Clinton and Obama. A woman and a black guy. Now, this is NOT ment, and i repeat NOT MENT TO BE OFFENSIVE. i consider myself more liberal than democrats, to clear things up, i have nothing against any minority or anything. I'm trying to be objective.
i personally think that Obama and Edwards are the most qualified for the job. Clinton i dont like simply because shes a Clinton. I loved Bill, but the US isn's suppose to have dynasties, which its having with the Clintons and the Bushs.
My question is: WITH THEIR GENDER/RACE IN MIND, who do you think will realistically win?

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
I'm not from USA ,but I know plenty about this country.
So I say, that America is not ready for a black president!
It's my opinion that USA is a multy national country, but
the country's rulers are, and at least in the near future
will be white people. I'm not racist or anything if that's what
you'r thinking...

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
They are slow to change. The conservative religious fundamentalists have a strong influence of politics. I am ready for such a person, I have long since been. Alas, it seems it will take a long time for someone to not only be nominated but also to be supported by the current regime.
But perhaps, the best thing to happen is for a black woman president to be elected and just after she is inagurated admits that she is a lesbian.
This should at least cause a stir.

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
US wouldn't have a black or women president because of their obsession with whitism and religion. While the whole world is progressive and chooses capable people rather than race or gender, Americans who like to think themselves as unbiased continue the gender and racial bias as best as they could. Signs of infinite human stupidity.

The votes will let you know if they are ready for it or not.

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
We are all stubborn asses and it takes a lot for us to change our ways. I, personally, don't think a woman President will be elected for a long time, unless Oprah decided to run one year. But, I think the U.S will embrace an African American President if Obama does win, just because I think this country is in such a desperate need of change.

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
SURe,, why not. I'm down with it. I mean who knows, a big change might b what this screwed up country needs right now. It might bring back our loved ones. I hope. So i don't see why there should b any problem with it. To me color doe's not matter. I'm not against anyone. I see everyone the same,, under one god. Mayb if ppl started getting along and stopped with all the bullshit this world might b a happier place to live in.

this is exactally what i was thinking. Other countries surpass us by far. They (and i have europe in mind with my facts) have been more open about things which the US is still terrified about : language (in all forms), sex, etc. And in larger aspects: who is in power, the enviornment changes, and again, etc. the US seems to be so terrified of change, and i think it applies to every issue we have right now. i really dont think the US will vote for a black or woman president. they just arent ready for that kind of change yet. particularly when they are both seemingly liberal.
to be honest, i wouldnt vote for Hilary Clinton. i never liked her much. either Obama or Edwards.

I'm just ready for Bush to leave office. He is on my last nerve.
I would never vote for Hilary Clinton. There's just something I don't like about her. I don't know much about Obama or Edwards.

I will vote for Hilary if her husband runs the country for her. IMO, Bill Clinton was a great president.

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
Would you folks stop paradeing just how little you know about the US? That said, consider the fact that congress (democrat controlled) currently has a lower approval rateing than president Bush. And we all know that's saying something. That said, the US would elect a black or women president as soon as a proper candidate comes out. Hilary and Obama have only one advantage- her with her gender and him with his race. Thats the only issue they're pushing on, and to me, thats not enough. Lets hear the issues already! Plus, Hilary has no chance at the presidency.

Re: Is the US ready for either a Black or Woman president?
I agree Hilary has not chance, but I'm American, i know about America. Im not happy with congress, either, but thats not the issue here. Im asking if, by race or gender alone, would the US vote for a black or woman president.
