Do you think it really is a definitive way to fortell the future or interpret someones psychological make-up, or determine how compatible one person may be for another?
Horoscopes, (which I'm guessing) most of you will think straight away when you here the word astrology.
Horoscopes in newspapers and magazines (as alot of subjects like this can be) are mainly generalisations for the one sun sign (star sign).
Astrologers grasp this information that they put into these horoscopes from the planet's transits (their positions and movements through each 12 zodiac signs).
So for example, if the Mercury (planet of communication, thoughts and ideas) were in Cancer (the sign of emotions, moodiness and domesticity) during the month of June, the horoscope for Cancerians would say something along the lines of, "You will find yourself to be quite chatty for the next couple of weeks. You will find it easier to say what you want to say and you will be able to sort through your cluttered mind without much difficulty.."
Astrologers also grasp information from the position a planet is in in the 12 houses. The houses represent a certain area in life for example the 1st house is to do with one's self identity, image, the 5nd house is to do with creativity, love affairs, children, etc.
So, for example, if for the sign of Libra, Jupiter (planet of expansion, beliefs, good fortune) was in its second house (money, possessions). This would mean a Libra could find themselves perhaps winning a large amount of money from the lottery.
However, these are just generalisations for the whole of the Libran population, therefore the chances of these horoscopes happening are less.
The way in which astrology can interpret your psychological make-up is with a 'birth chart'. It is a circular chart that is drawn up, divided by 12 sections (one for each sun sign) and depending on the time, date, place, year you were born the planets will be allocated a spot in the chart (depending on their position) and houses can be drawn up.
One person may have their Venus (planet representing how you relate to others, how you love, who you're attracted to) in Aquarius (sign of revolutionary ideas, uniqueness, friends, originality), which (according to astrology) would indicate that this person is attracted to someone who is unconventional and totally different from the 'norm', and they themselves may relate to people in an original, unique way and from this make many friends.
To give an example on a real person, lets look at Adolf Hitler's birthchart.
We all know who he was, have some idea of what he was like (well his public image moreso) and what he did in his life.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889.
His Uranus (the planet that rules Aquarius and its traits of revolutionary ideas) is in Libra (the sign of not only relationships, but also of politics). Hitler by becoming Chancellor of Germany (politics) created a most dramatic and radical revolutionary change, with the involvement of the Nazi Party.
His Pluto (planet of power, transformation and the 'underworld', tenacity and intensity) is in the sign of Gemini (rules by Mercury, communication, etc.) and is conjunct (fusing of energies) with his Neptune (planet of illusion/disillusionment) in Gemini.
This could perhaps describe Hitler's powerful and hypnotic rule over Germany's people with his knack for public speaking (communication - Gemini).
Hitler's Mercury (planet of communication) is in Aries (the sign of leadership, fiery, and ruled by Mars the planet of War). This may indicate his ideas for leadership in Germany, and through speeches, and writing (Mein Kampft) he succeeded.
According to his birth time, a point known as the "Midheaven", which represents one's career, ultimate goals in life and what one desires and strives to become, is in Leo (the sign of loyalty, affection, but also of domineering and ferocious energies).
This is all according to Astrology.
What do you think? |

people believe magazines when they go 'you will find love tomorrow'
how can anyone believe it...
everything happens for a reasons of course but no one can determine if it will snow tomorrow but there are probabalities etc of course
so it may come true but at a ratio etc |

Hmm with horoscopes i have found some of them to be sometimes relavent but then i think people read one and actually seek out something in their lives that fits in with the horoscope so they can believe that it is all actually true.

They give a vague description of common things people go through in life.
That way odds are no matter what it has to relate to odds are allot of different people at the same timehappen to be going through same thing.
Because its something people commonly go through.
Its a very old trick dating back a very long time ago.
Its not magic.
Its a scam.

Quite often I can't find anything relevant in my horoscope. It's quite silly really.

Well, I suposse it's a suggestion: You are bad, don't find the exit and need something which tell you what you have to do. Really they hope it could work. |
