If any of you don't know (I don't think I've said much concerning Obama around here), I'm extremely against President Obama. I've been shopping around for T-Shirts to express my views (I proudly own a Joker Socialism shirt) and I came across this:

I'm pretty much in love with this shirt. I almost bought the thing then was like, "Oh shit, that's a swastika." I'm still in high school, and it says in our "pride book" that insignias and logos of racist groups and movements are strictly forbidden. However, the swastika is not in and of itself a depiction of racism or showing support for the Nazi party.

I have no problem defending myself against that, as before WWII no one in the Western world had a problem with the swastika - in fact, it was used as a logo for sports teams, etc. Shit gets gritty, however, because Hitler is obviously in the mix.

So my question is: am I promoting, encouraging, or otherwise agreeing with racism by wearing that shirt to school? If not, how could I make a case for myself?

Please note that I want a serious discussion here.

He works for the same people as Bush and every other president since at least Kennedy. If you were against Bush but for Obama your a complete hypocrite its been almost a year and Obama has done all the same things Bush has so much for change.

i think its not huge problem... like there is more images than just the swastika and it is showing relation between two things, not promoting nazi... so i think it isnt a huge problem or offensive.
but maybe it could offend differnt ppl. I am pure blood Polish, the race hitler wanted to delete from the world and i live in germany so i am probly in the worst position to be offended and seeing it does not offend me, so i think it isnt a big deal... unless u wear it like every single day then ppl might be weird about it.. :/

Anyway, a couple hours of research later and I'm here with a pretty solid argument. Basically, the swastika does not represent anything other than the Nazi Party. The Nazi Party was about putting the Germans in a position of higher power. Hitler was not anti-Jewish, but merely pro-German. Therefor, the swastika is merely a symbol of German pride. Isn't the American flag a symbol of American pride? Why would there be a problem with wearing a swastika to school when in every room hangs an American flag?

The fact that Hitler's picture, as well as the Nazi flag, makes it impossible to ignore its racist intentions.

In any case, if what the shirt said was true, then practically every president in the world can be related to Hitler.
