Yeah I know. It's bad. My teacher (hardcore conservative who thinks America is always right) tried to make it sound like it was okay by saying that there's more Native Americans now, than there ever use to be. Wow. That's crazy, you stick a group of people in one spot for over a century and they grow! Well we learn something new every day, huh.

Everyone who is saying that it is bad and lives in the United States should go back to the country of their ancestors. It was with the sacrifices of the early settlers and of the U.S. Army that enabled us to settle these lands in peace.

Seems a lot of people forget that a lot of Americans are partially Native American and can easily trace their ancestry back to particular tribes. My mom's side of the family has a *lot* of Cherokee and Osage blood. My maternal great-grandmother lived to be nearly 90, but her hair was still mostly black and wore it in a long braid with beads in the style of her tribe. This is where I get my dark hair from as well.
So that's why I don't get this whole idea that the evil white man came in and murdered everybody. What about those of us who are mixed?

| I'm fairly certain the besides from the territorial disputes you often get with 2 groups of people close enough, pre-colonized America was pretty damn peaceful.
As for the OP, I think the actions of the U.S. were pretty condemnable, but in I'm tired of people accusing me for the actions of my supposed forefathers. I say supposed because my family came to America after the Indian Wars, but most Indians rights radicals don't care, my skin is white, so somewhere in my heritage I've wronged a Native American apparently. It's the same thing with Black activists calling for reparations, never mind that no one in my family line ever owned slaves.

In Utah (where genealogy is HUGE) nearly everyone has a link to some Native American bloodline.
