You really think by arming school staff it will prevent shootings? The people who commit school shootings aren't thinking properly anyway, and the notion of dying in the process of their attack barely phases them. Most of them end up taking their own lives anyway. As for arming teachers to end the shootings quicker... they're teachers, not crowd control.
It's a sad, pitiful day when you have to train your teachers in urban combat.

It's a sad, pitiful day when you have to train your teachers in urban combat. | It isn't about saving shooter's life, it's about saving the student's lives. I could give a shit if the shooter dies, or if he cares about dying. I care more that the students themselves live. It takes two minutes to murder twenty people. It takes two minutes for a cop to arrive, twenty minutes for the full police squad to arrive as back up, thirty to sixty minutes for swat to arrive. It would take ten seconds for a teacher, or a student in the classroom, to whip out a pistol to shoot back. So let's see... option one, many people die while they wait for police to arrive. Option two, a few people die as they wait for the teacher to pull out a gun. Actually, teachers having guns would probably do a bit to deter them in the first place. So please tell me, why is option one so much better?
I do agree with your last statement, though. It is a pretty sad day. Unfortunately, this is what political correctness does to us. |

Unfortunately, this is what political correctness does to us. | I couldn't give a rat's ass about saving the shooter's life either - not sure how you got that out of my post. You stated by arming school staff it would prevent shootings. I assume you meant that shooters wouldn't commit these crimes because there would be the fear of retribution or a stymieing of their attacks. I was just saying that they don't care if they are killed, as someone who gets to the point of a school shooting has pretty much hit rock bottom and isn't thinking clearly. Also, as I already said, they usually end up taking their own lives.
Arming students or teachers opens a really big, bad can of worms. I may not know the magical answer to gun safety (aside from banning guns entirely), but it certainly isn't introducing more guns.

If Criminals break twenty gun laws already in existence robbing a store, something tells me that they aren't going to listen to a few more gun laws.
2. Yes, they take their own lives, but they will usually plan to do as much damage as they can. Seeing as a school is completely unarmed, it's a great target for them as they can just go around shooting whomever they please.
3. Before the 1950's, when guns were carried in every other guy's truck, how many school shootings were there? |

Banning guns at school will reduce shootings. If you seriously think arming teachers and/or students will reduce shootings at school then you have a few screws loose up top.
If you are hell-bent on having guns at school, then have the schools hire security (and forward the bill onto you). You know, people who are trained to deal with a shooting. Leave the teachers to do what they're suppose to do - teach.
