As Asians, we are expected to excel in the mathematics and science departments. We have to keep up with societal expectations, and while some of us don't have a problem with that and use this positive discrimination to benefit us, others aren't so lucky.

I once told my friend that black people, especially in movies, say things like, "Shut the fuck up, "fuck off", "go fuck yourself", etc. better than anyone. He said that was the best racism he ever heard.

I meant purposely picking someone from a minority over someone in the majority to make it appear you do not discriminate.

Maybe i confused you with the word "positive", as it clearly isnt positive, the positive bit is just government hypocrisy so they can spin figures.

I'm against it when it's actively being used to try and promote 'equality'. But occasionally I can see the good in it's implementation with individual circumstances, such as the quota on the Northern Irish Police Service to recruit an equal number of Catholics and non-Catholics.

The essential thing is that equality of opportunity is an essential tenet of our society that needs to be upheld.

Currently I am in a position of not being allowed to fire/reprimand my worst employee because he is African American and gay. HR is afraid of any possible backlash and claims of racism, so they go the extreme and allow this kid to be a terrible employee but don't allow me to hold him accountable in any way.

It's really frustrating.

Trust me, you're not doing it any more than I am.

How HR can really think that this kid calling me a scumbag in front of another manager and another employee doesn't at the very least warrant a write-up I have no idea.

I could go on for hours about the shit this kid pulls and is allowed to all in the name of being "politically correct".

It's a stupid way of thinking really.
People should be judged on merit, not by age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality or any other irrelevant factors. I would want to employ the best person for the job, not someone selected to meet a government target.
