Re: I support a Public Option

The 45 million people, or whatever the made up number is this week, won't all be covered. And a large chunk of the currently uncovered are that way electively.

If it was just about providing health care (which is available to everyone already) or health insurance, it wouldn't take 2000 pages to do.

Economics is distributing limited resources among unlimited wants. The problem with this is the mindset that health care is an unlimited resource, a right. We were founded on rights, which I believe have to be freely available by definition. We have freedom of the press and to bear arms. The government doesn't have to give us a press or a gun. We have the right to live, but not to government provision of all the tools to do so.

They both are broken and only exist because certain people can't afford real insurance.

Well thankfully considering the whole problem was the bubble that burst soon after said highs.

Re: I support a Public Option

you should never have only one option for such a large group of people. there needs to be options that can cover everyone.

you cannot do this by completely eliminating a public option, and you cannot do this by only giving a socialized healthcare system. it is too solid a decision. history has taught us that trying to rule people this way does not work. you need to give the people options.

that being said, i do not mind a public option. however, there are particular points in that bill which are meant to infringe upon a woman's right to her own body. and it targets the poorest of women. that, among other things within it, are not okay with me, and need to be done away with entirely.
