Yesterday my doctor told me I was clinically depressed. She also told me that it was the reason that I didn't sleep or eat enough. She gave me anti-depressents and sleeping pills. Just wondering if I should look out for anything because I've never had these meds before.
Edit. I may have put this in the wrong part of this site. Heh.
look, maybe u should go to another or more doctors to be sure id itss right what he said and gave u, then well u just gotta stop the sad face, take a look at life, itss better than u may think

don't feel bad. I'm on the same thing. Don't worry about it though, I had to do this project on depression, and I think the stat is 6/10 teenagers are depressed but only one in eight of those get help. It is completely normal, because that is what my doctor told me. He even has his son on this medication because he's depressed. It's a lot more common than you think. Just try to look at the bright side of things and remember to take the pills you got. They really help. And if you feel you need to talk to someone, just ask your doctor, as they can usually help you. I'm talking from personal evperience here, so trust me. Hope you feel better soon.
I didn't think I was that depressed until my doctor starting asking all these questions when I told her I always forget to eat and that it takes me 3-4 hours to fall asleep. It's not even that I don't look at the bright sides of things, I do that all the time. She said I should test out the anti-depressents because they will make my mind more clear and I'll be able to figure out stuff more easily since I tend to always contradict myself.
Hi skittle, I'm on anti darkness pills too. I've been on them for a year. I hate them and paradoxically cant live without them. I have tried to stop them, but they mess with my head real bad even though I feel like I can finally think clearly. If i do take them I'm vague and fuzzy. If I'm not on them, I get depressed and sad. If I'm on them I'm happier. It suck really bad.
I got drepressed about a year ago, and things have snow balled. First I just hated school, then my job, then my dad had a stroke, then my nephew died of a bullshit reason. I even thought selfishly of ending it. But I only messed myself up. Now I have all the head stuff, and thanks to a vain attempt at suicide I damaged my nerves in my lower spine. So to top it all of I now can't controle my bladder and I wet. So rather than take a chance again, my doctor put on Lexapro. It's a double edged sword. but what can you do?? chin up. what else can we do.
I know I'm only new, but is there any other reasons for feeling like crap?

oh, I forgot. My counciller says the same thing. I can't seem to get what I'm feeling out properly.
I know about clinical depression as I have been on medication for it since I was 18. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it as it is a hormonal and genetic problem, even the happiest incidents wouldn't help if you get an attack of the 'manic stage' during CD. When you are under one of those stages it lasts only a few hours to a day but it may make you feel so bad that you feel suicidal or you may feel very angry at some issue or something. Unipolar or bipolar generally affects people who have very high intellectual or creative capabilities.
You'll have to remain on the daily medication and if there is an attack, take the pills the doc gave you for it. If it is bipolar, it is a lifetime deal. All you can do is get as much sleep as you can and remain as active as you can (mentally and physically) to rev up your 'feel good' hormones. Stick to the medication without fail.

She/he could as well be a rock star getting applauded on stage and it wouldn't help at all. Marlyn Monroe, Elvis Priestley, Kurt Cobain, Lord Byron, Adam Ant, Ernest Hemingway - all of them suffered from this kind of depression. It is pretty common among successful, intelligent and famous people.

hey, i've had serious clinical depression for the last 9 years, it runs in my family, my doctor said that my granddads death is what triggered i've been or 6 different types of anti-depressants and i'm on sleeping pills to, its the only way i can get a decent nights sleep otherwise i'd only get about 2-3 hrs a night. horrible really but true, it's a serious condition but you can still get on with things you'd normally do. it just makes you more positive towards things.
have a look around the internet for different views on depression, i found that helpful.
good luck
