I started cutting in grade seven, and continued until grade nine. Why I cut...I'm not really sure, it was just a coping strategy for me like, biting nails or hair pulling. It was really hard for me to stop, but I did eventually. I think it's because, as a female, I've always felt like I had to supress any agression that I may have had, because girls are "supposed" to be petite and gentle and calm, and I felt like I couldn't live up to those expectations, so I took that supressed agression out on myself.
