What Does Cutting Achieve You?
Can someone actually tell me what exactly do you get by cutting?
Those who have already dont this, did you achieve anything? For those who are interested in cutting, what kind of thoughts do you have in your mind, what makes you go for cutting? You just wont take a blade or knife and think about cutting without any reason?
Tell us the reasons you cut yourself for? This is a big issue and people need to get a little more educated. How much harmful this cutting is? If teens may share their opinions on it, we may help other teens who might be going to cut? They might read the experiences and don't do this horrible thing.

I've never thought to myself "I'll cut myself 2 times today" or w/e. I just used to do it on the spur of the moment.
I've harmed myself since I was a child (aged 6-7) I never used to cut myself until I was bleeding then, I just used to scram/bite/pinch myself to get anger out.
I'd prefer to hurt myself than someone else, and I know if I'd kept half of the anger in I'd take it out on someone else who didn't deserve it.
I've never meant to kill myself by it

I stopped for a few years... then I started getting bullied in high school and started cutting myself with razors and stuff.

I get a drop of blood or two, from a small pinch when I am doing some test on RBCs.

If its me I generally think, "I need to sterilise the area quickly, where is the ethanol!". If it is someone else I think. "Poor creature! Its going to end up dissected eventually!"

I rarely cut myself and that too only when no immediate source of a drop of blood is available or if I want to check something on my own blood.

I really don't think anyone can educate someone who doesn't understand. It's not something that can just be explained clearly and everyone understand. Mostly because different people do it for different reasons but there are other reasons it's hard for people who don't do it to understand.

I know loads of people who are like "Self harm is stupid... it doesn't cure anything" but they obviously don't get it if they've never done it themselves.

I used to cut myself but it was a long time ago. I had just turned 16 I was young and stupid now I'm 19 I am smarter and more mature. There really is no point in cutting but bringing more pain but I was screaming out for attention and wanted people to feel sorry for me and care about me and was screaming out for the wrong type of attention and going the wrong way about solving my problems.
I was young through a rough teenage time, you could say.

i achived a calmness an almost high like state .. i was in so much pain on the inside i would have realther had it on the outside, then came the numbness and i had cut to feel.. i nly have a minor scar from it .. i never could cut deep enouge to scar
