Is it still bulimia if...
Hi. Please under stand that this is really hard for me to admit this, so please be nice in your responses >.<
I was wondering, is it still bulimia if you binge then try to throw it up, but can't always do it? I mean, I try and I try and sometimes it just doesn't work. Or sometimes, I'll binge then not eat for 3 or so days.
I feel really weird asking this. I never feel like I'm sick enough to get any attention.
Sometimes I restrict calorie intake to 100-200 cals a day. I'm losing weight, but my doctor still tells me that I'm overweight. So it's not Anorexia, because I'm not thin enough.
It's always either restricting or binging, it's never normal.
Anybody want to tell me what's going on here? I mean it seems to obvious but I just really need to hear it from somebody.
Oh, and I have never been diagnosed with Bulimia or Anorexia, ever.
If this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry, please move it to the correct location.

Re: Is it still bulimia if...
First of all, yes, it's bulimia. Just because you try and you can't do it doesn't mean it isn't. If you're trying to succeed, it's bulimia. And you should really discuss it with someone. Sometimes, losing weight isn't as simple as just not eating for days on end. That's dangerous and more unhealthy than anything else. If you're limiting what you eat and exercising, then you should be losing weight. If not, then it's another issue you need to get sorted out.
I bolded exercising because you don't just lose weight by not eating. You have to do cardio. Jog, run. Treadmills are your friend. A lot of crunches. You have to develop an exercise program and stick with it AND have a healthy diet. Starving yourself isn't a healthy diet.

I probably should have mentioned that I do exercise, a lot. I play ice hockey almost every day. Plus tennis and gym class. That was my fault for not mentioning that.
Thank you for your response.

Re: Is it still bulimia if...
It's still bulimia because you're attempting to throw up.

Re: Is it still bulimia if...
I would suggest telling an adult that you really trust, tell them what you have been doing and feeling and they can help you. They can help you lose weight the RIGHT way, and stop you from getting deeper into these diseases then you already are.

Re: Is it still bulimia if...
The only good thing about losing weight the good way, is keeping it off in the long run.
But you don't lose it fast enough.

Re: Is it still bulimia if...
i think you have anorexia and bulimia
it doesn't matter how thin you are...if you don't eat or eat very little consistenly -> anorexia
making yourself throw up - bulimia

Maybe you should stop and really think about how "overweight" you are. Is it 10 pounds? Because if so, you're being silly over absolutely nothing. If it's 70 or 80 pounds or more, then like I said, you just need to get on a REAL diet, jog/treadmill every day, lots of crunches every day. Cut soda or chips or anything like that out of your heavy daily consumption and just try to be healthy. THAT MEANS NOT STARVING YOURSELF.
Because you play ice hockey, tennis and do gym every day doesn't mean it's the right exercise. If you're doing that, that's running around and skating around. It may help build stamina, leg strength, etc, but it doesn't help you lose weight in a traditional way that crunches, sit ups, squats and jogging will.

Yes.
And I do that too, I'll binge eat, then I won't for a few days. I believe a lot of people do it, especially if they are not on a regular eating schedule/diet. I don't think that's a huge issue | | |
