when you feel down and depressed it can help alot to talk, but sometimes medication can help. If you're depressed to an extreme then you need to come back to a comfortable place before you can use talking therapies, or just confide in the people you know, so don't be afraid to seek medical help if you feel you need it.
Anyone that wants someone impartial to talk to, then I'm just a pm away. I'm a psychology student and moving towards counseling, so I might be of some use, I'm also just a nice person, and will try to support anyone that needs it.
i am a first time cutter...
about a year ago, i started scratching with my nails, anything i could find... it used to relieve the stress i felt... the anxiety, to break out of my skin

i had asked my parents if i could go on antidepressants, basically saying, im depressed
and they totally ignored me...
i've actually started cutting... it seems to help. today was the first time i drew a little bit of blood.. and i started smiling.. i love the pain.

My parents did the same thing. They luckily got the hint after there were razors and knives and bottles of sleeping pills all over my room, but they still haven't done anything.
I suggest if your school counselor isn't stupid, go talk to them. Thats what I did, and he got me an appointment with a real shrink.
... Now if only my parents would take me to it.
Anyway. Yeah, this is really good.
I am a cutter, and quite suicidal (Damn BPD, PTSD, ED-NOS and BDD), and I can just say that the best thing you can do is go to someone you trust and let it out.
And if you "have no one" as dorky as it may seem, suicide hotlines help.
I called one once, and they talked me down... Granted I did get drunk the next day and try it anyway, but thats my own stupidity (Whats even stupider is that I managed to botch it. Dont try killing yourself while drunk kids, you feel even worse when you wake up the next morning hung over and still alive).
Anywho, anyone feeling suicidal feeling should imediately go to someone they can confide in and talk to them. I mean, what can it hurt?
I never cut, but I did think about suicide. A lot... It really does help to talk to someone. But for anybody who has thought about it or is even considering it but doesnt have a person to talk to, you can talk to me. I'm homeschooled and am basicly on my computer all the time, if not im near it. PM me, or even email me. Anytime, really. The world can never profit from a death.
Self Harm- wither its cutting, burning, pinching, bulimia or any type of problem you are harming your body should be taken seriously.
If you by accident cut deeper then you should have and are bleeding heavily cover the wound and call 911.
DONT come to a forum and ask for help if you are bleeding, call 911 right away.
Self harm is an addiction.
As a medical student, I can say that is no right
If u cut a major artery (commonly the radial artery at the rest), you should apply a tourniquet to the upper half of your arm to compress the brachial artery against the shoulder bone (the humerus), so you can stop bleeding
other wise, you may die of bleeding within minutes, before 911 come for help
