so I know part of being a teenager is being moody...
but I need help to try to control it..
Sometimes I'd feel good about myself and be in a really good mood,
and then suddenly I'd feel really shit and depressed. I REALLY hate the feeling..
and when I talk to people I end up being sort of a bitch and I dont like it.
I just feel really crap about myself and feel really useless.
Is there a good way to get over this feeling? is there a way to avoid them completely?
please help
thanks :]

I think when you feel a mood swing coming on, isolate yourself in your room and play your fav music or something. Coz music ALWAYS helps, and you don't want to take it out on anyone.

Try to enjoy the good times. Maybe talk to a friend when you're depressed or write down what happened to get you there. You'll be fine!

So it really is nothing to worry about at this point, but keep an eye on it. If the mood swings get super intense, as in the depression gets very horrible to the point where you're suicidal, and the highs get more intense, you don't sleep and you talk fast, talk to your doctor. Some mood swings are normal, some are bipolar, which is really dangerous when it's not treated. My advice is just be careful. It could be nothing.

One minute I'd be laughing with my friends, the other I'd start freaking on somebody because he lost the remote, then I'd get all depressed because I was mean to my friend and he was mad at me, then I would go back to happy. Cycle happened like 4 times a day. Anyways, what I did to help with this is the Omega-3 as stated in the above two posts. It helped quite a bit. Also, if I felt like I was having a mood swing, I would go isolate myself from people like an above poster said. Listening to music, doing a hobby or just taking a nap is a good idea too. I also carried a stress ball with me because my most severe mood swings where on the angry evil pissed off side of me
Hope this helped |

It's sort of belittling the idea that you are actually dealing with these emotions that are very real and very tangible. Who cares what the source is, in reality? The fact is that you still have to live with them somehow. Don't feel bad just because someone told you it's teen angst.
As far as what you're dealing with goes...I think the biggest thing is finding that one thing that helps you through those rough spots. You said talking to people just makes you more aggressive....so don't do it. There are tons of others things you can do to work out that depression that don't involve talking to anyone. Write, draw, make music, listen to music, hike, run....anything that gets your mind iyn a different place.
I know that seems superficial, but in reality depression is just the inability to get yourself out of those bad, low feelings. If you can pull yourself up from that on your own...you're really already half way there. It's (a lot of times) just a matter of figuring out how to not stay in that hole you're in. |

On the physical side of things, Omega-3 fatty acids actually do help. I can't give a scientific evidence but, it worked for me, so I recommend giving it a try.
Also if you feel like you're being bitchy or angry, try to calm yourself down and see what it might have been that triggered it in the first place, if anything.
