I saw A7X recently last month and I everytime the solo comes I think "Shit. This guy is a beast." and I just stare, dumbfounded. Haha.

thomas erak of the fall of troy. i think he's sick. i don't play guitar, so i don't know how hard the stuff he writes is, but to sing and play that fast at the same time sounds impressive, at least in my opinion.

ok i'm supprised no one said the metallica duo yet... no one?... ok i'll say it...

james hetfield is the best heavy metal songwriter ever, i mean most heavy metal has no meaning, but him and Lars ulrich(drummer) put all thats possible in. and he could be the lead if he wanted 'cause it's not harder except for the best solos in the world.

kirk hammet is by far the best heavy metal shredder there is, and writes some of there songs to. i say the best metal shreder there is one better, joe satriani. he is better because kirk is the student, joe is the teacher. you can hear the satriani sound in kirks playing.

one more thing about metallica, kirk wasn't the first,(james was lead(thats why he could be lead if he wanted) originaly) before the best there was the worst, Dave Mustiane. he got kicked out cause he sucks, and everybody that thought he was better than kirk feel like idiots now. yea it's true. live with it.

^i respect all of them except slash. he is way overated. trust me, put him against my two(above yours), tom, anybody, just face it already and deal with it.

and by the way buckethead is way better in GN'R.

I think Mustaine is a better guitarist than Hetfield but not Kirk. However some of Megadeth's other guitarists are on par with Kirk, such as Marty Friedman.
But yeah Metallica are unbelevably awesome, Megadeth slightly less so.
