You are now imagining sticking a tooth pick under your toe nail and kicking against a wall with full force

Re: removing dirt from fingernails

If you wash your hands properly and frequently, it won't be a problem. Holding your hands under running water like dead fish does not count as proper washing.

Re: removing dirt from fingernails

oh gosh, don't use sugar! I got sugar in my fingernails before, it was awful!

I used to use pens, like byro pens in school but I used a pen which leaked ink a lot so I got ink under my fingernail recently
Use a pin or I use the end of a nail filer, I think some have a curved part which is made for getting dirt from under your nails!

Re: removing dirt from fingernails

As a farmer and engineering student i know a thing or two about dirty hands. lol. for me its swarfiga and then a knife to get the dirt from the fingernails. keep them trimmed as well so less gets under. sugar and soap is good for getting dirt off your hands if you don't have swarfiga. cheap clothes washing powder can help to get oil off your hands but not great for the skin.
