It's just a source of food. Why is eating cats and dogs so bad?

I don't think it's bad, it's just some people seem to think that cats and dogs are equal to humans.

Well if you're hungry and living off a street then I see it as ok to eat it.

i'm not going to your wedding if any form of domesticated pet is going to be on the dinner menu!!!

._." she's serious. she eyed off my dog once so i can't really trust her around animals T_T especially after she told me one gross story about eating animals. i think a lot of asian countries do it because they pretty much have no food.they're pretty much considered vegetables too. T_T

Those parts of China where cats are supposedly eaten are not primitive. My Chinese colleague explained to me that some cat-eating areas are rural and poor; though considered backward by city-dwellers, they are not primitive by any modern definition. In the urban areas where cat is served, it was considered a gourmet meal. He found it odd that I accorded my pet cats the status of family members and not livestock or utility animals (ratters). If they were family members, how could I be comfortable with "owning" them as property (which I could dispose of at will) - would I feel comfortable about owning, buying and selling a child or an aunt?

Having heard so much conflicting information about pet-eating in Korea, I spoke to the Korean wife of a colleague. She was quite upset at the suggestion that all Koreans eat pet cats. She told me that cats are eaten, but mostly in rural areas since well-educated Koreans consider pet keeping a status symbol and sign of Westernisation. She stressed that the cats eaten are bred and bought for food, just like Westerners breed cattle for food - they are not pets. This parallels the fact that China has a specialised breed of dog raised specially for meat - the Mongolian Chinese Meat Dog (often crossed with imported St Bernard dogs to improve yield) - just as Westerners raise some rabbits for meat and other types of rabbit as pets. The "Chow" breed was a meat dog - "chow" means "food".

I don't care. That's just sick to even do something like that.

I think that's obvious.

I think it's fu.cking gross, just like it is for cows/chickens/pigs, ect. I'm a vegetarian, as you can see. It's gross just because it is - eating something that was once alive? Answer me this, would it be gross to eat another human? Would it be gross to eat their brain?

It's a fucking dog/cat. Why would you eat a dog or a cat? They're pets, not food items. I don't see how you can want a puppy for Christmas and advocate eating dogs. It's sickening that you would even think like that and you should really feel like shit for it.

Humans aren't bred for livestock purposes.

I'm not making you do it am I?
I could say the same thing "you insult my culture blah blah" etc. And no I wouldn't hurt a pet or my own pet. I do know the difference there.

^ So what if they aren't? That makes it less worst?
