Braces
Sorry if this is the wrong section, well, I'm getting braces in March, and I'm really scared, I do they hurt when the dentist puts them in? I don't want to spend days in pain, and do they hurt as much as people say when they are tightened?

Re: Braces
They hurt but they are worth the pain, its not crazy pain, usually if you take a tylenol it will go away. but now i have perfect teeth, and i get compliments all the time

Re: Braces
iv just had braces on like 5 days ago...
yeh they do ache but if you take some kind of painkiller it usually goes away.
they just take abit of getting used to, it feels weird at the start but then its ok after a while!
eating is hard i spose but .... hey! you'll get used to it!!

Why cant you have braces which are just take off type rather than fitted ones?

Re: Braces
They used to make my gums bleed (but that's because I have E.D.S. and the tissues in my skin are lame) but other than that their just uncomfortable. I stopped wearing mine because of the gum problems.

It's not up to me, it's up to my dentist, I think normally first of all you get a retainer fitted, then a brace.

They only hurt if your teeth were really fucked

Re: Braces
For me they hurt a little bit.. Not much at first.. Though the first few times you get them tightened they do hurt a bit.. I'm not really good with pain and my teeth were pretty screwed up so I did have to take some tylenol..
Just make sure you have jello and stuff around when you get them tightened and they should be fine..
I'm getting mine off on the 21st!!

oh sorry, you cant choose then?
I was just wandering why people were having them fitted when theres removeable ones which do the same job

Re: Braces
I think it all depends on the codition your teeth are in, my entire mouth is crooked, and I bite down weirdly, the whole mouth should come together but the top teeth go over the bottom teeth, so I'll probably get a brace straight away.

Re: Braces
Well, Ive had braces for a year now, and boy theyre a bitch.
It hurts sometimes when they get tightened, not always.
But yeah, my teeth were pretty bad, and ever since the last time they tightened them, my gums started bleeding too :[
Idk if thats normal, or not..
But they just bleed whenever they feel like it, and its nastyy.
Not only that, but like..
Since my teeth are getting pushed closer together because of the bracess.
My gums are getting pushed out of the wayy, and I guess thats why theyre bleeding?
Idk why my gums are so fudged up right now.
I dont like how they are.
Does anyone know if theyll go back to the way they were, or something?

Re: Braces
there is really nothing to worry about while getting braces. they don't hurt while being put on its just the aftermath. your going to have to eat soft foods for about 2 or 3 weeks after getting them. it feel like your teeth are being pushed together while being pulled out but its a normal feeling. you will be back to normal in no time and soon it will feel like nothing is on your teeth! ....
i miss my braces =(
