Aside from chronic dehydration, teens also have a lot of salt and minerals in their diet due to their love of junk food. Active teens shoud drink plenty of water daily, as much as 3 liters if possible. COld winter air can also cause dehydration since it is very dry, so get in something warm like soup or cocoa every now and then. RUle of thumb is if your pee is darker than usual, you need lots of water. |

Teens tend to go for junk food because it can be eaten during gimmicks or a simple hang out with friends. After eating a lot of junk food, they do not have the appetite to eat a regular meal anymore. |

i'm a fourteen year old girl, and i will be turning 15 in a couple days. Last Saturday morning, about 3am, i woke up due to horrible pains under my rib cage, it hurt like someone had just stabbed me. i threw up a couple times before i woke my dad to tell him what had happened. he gave me something for the pain and told me to go back to bed. i took it and tried to go back to bed, but the pain seemed to be getting worse. i got up to go the bathroom but nothing would come out. i ended up throwing up again, then i rushed to my dad because i coudn't take the pain anymore. he woke up and drove me to the emergency room. we were there for about 7 hours before i was able to leave knowing that i have kidney stones. the doctor told me it was uncommon for teenagers my age to have kidney stones. she told me it was due to drining a lot of soda. the thing is... i don't drink a lot of soda and i have read that you guys say that kidney stones are also due to the food us teenagers eat, i live in a good house hold and i rarely ever eat junk food. i am really confused on how this has happened. please if you could email me, or reply to this comment i would like to here people's opinions on this. thank you <3 |

1st think that u should do is calm down, dont be panic, since kidney stone is not really "freaky" disease since these days there's a lot of medication an threatment for that, with natural treatment or medical ones.
I copied this part of article for your comprehension :

hey. i knwo what you feel. when i was 13 i was going to a dance performance. just one dance and i was helping the kids out so i was just back stage. anyways, when we wer driving there my back hurt way bad and i felt like i was gonna throw up. but it went away while i danced and then when i got home it started hurting again. finally, at like 11 pm. my parents finally brought me to the hospital. but it was in my right kidney and they thought it might be apendicitus so they wouldn't give me any medication. i went in and out of sleep and by 5 am. it was determined i had a kidney stone and i left. then, jsut this last february (3 years later) i woke up saturday mornign and felt like i had to go to the bathroom but nothign happened and then my back strted hurting and i immediatley knew what was going on. so i went back tot he er and told them i thought i had another kidney stone (this time in my left kidney) (oh and this was between all my throwing up...which by the way, really makes peopel feel sorry for you and you get into the er faster). anyways...the doctors said that i did have antoher one, gave me medicine and sent me home. later when i went to see my doctor for a follow up he toldme that my kidneys just don't process calcium right so even if i drink tons of water i should still limit my calcium so i don't get another one. anyways....just wanted to let you know you are not alone!!!! |

My cousin recently died because of kidney failure, and since he lived in a poor family, they weren't able to get enough money. The whole family tried to contribute but i didn't help. But just hang in there, i hope you get better both erin and lulu. |
