Anaemia
Have any of you had this?
I have been wandering if i have it because of my heavy flow of periods.
The doctor said she didnt think i looked anaemic, but i feel i am sometimes.
How could you tell you had it? (if any of you have had it)

Re: Anaemia
I guess blood tests would be the only sure way...if your doctor said no need then i probs shouldn't worry - if you're really sure then go ask for testing
Good luck, hope you dont have anaemia

Re: Anaemia
they have to test you, but an easy way to tell is if you are pale, and tired all the time. Do you notice you have less energy and fell faint? I would just take a daily multivitamin with iron just to make sure.

Re: Anaemia
There are over 300+ known causes of anemia. But I can almost guarantee that's what you have. You'd need a blood test to guarantee it, so just suck it up and go for it. But be sure you're getting a LOT of B-12 or B complex, and also folic acid and a lot of Vitamin C, plus Iron supplements. Daily if not twice a day or as much as suggested by your doctor.
But the thing is, anemia doesn't cause heavy menstrual flow, heavy menstrual flow causes anemia. I think it can be vice versa, as well.. I'm not sure precisely. Never really brushed up on that area :P
But yeah, blood tests are the way to go.

Re: Anaemia
I Have Anaemia, Ive Had It For A Few Years Now. It Was My Mum Who Realised I Could Have It, Because I Was Falling Asleep In The Early Afternoon Aswell As At Night & Id Be Tired Constantly, Aslo My Complexion Was A Pale Gray & I Would Find It Difficult To Eat Alot.
You Should Go To The Doctors & Have A Blood Test Done, It Hurts, But It Will Be Worth It To Find Out Whats Wrong. Apart From That I'd Suggest Taking Multivitamins Or Iron Tablets Every Morning

Re: Anaemia
Hmm i hardly ever feel tired, i get a little down on my period, maybe this is natural?
According to my doctor i dont look drawn/pale or tired, are these the main symptoms?
I hardly get tired.
could be my sleeping routine.

Re: Anaemia
How can your doctor tell you whether YOU are tired or drawn or not?

Re: Anaemia
Hmm they can tell if i look tired, if i have bags under my eyes etc.
Its not hard to see if a person is tired.
It seems anaemic people tend to look pale in the face and also tired.
I can always tell when a person is tired. Not so hard.

Re: Anaemia
For the longest time I thought I was anemic, but back in May when I started to go to my current doctor she drew some blood and took a blood count, and I was not. That also started my hatred for needles...
Anyways, the best thing to do would be to ask your doctor to take a blood test.

Re: Anaemia
Anemia is a serious thing. And by the way, any body can look tired and not be tired. Only you know whether you're really tired or not. To let your doctor tell you whether you're tired or not is silly.
