Money: 19,826 Points: 43,440, Level: 50 | | Gaining weight and eating healthy? I was wondering if it's possible to gain weight while still eating healthy? I've been trying to eat only healthy things lately because I'm sick all of the time and I thought maybe a change in diet would help that. At the same time, I've been wanting to gain weight for a while. I'm 5'5" and weigh about 100-102 lbs. I look like I weigh more than I do simply because of my chest, if I didn't have boobs I would look my weight, which I know isn't a healthy weight. |

I'm 113 lbs and 5ft6, still its underweight slightly.
But as response to your question, no i doubt you would put weight on if you ate healthy foods. But honestly, you could gain it and look fine

You probably eat a lot better than i do | Oh God no, I LOVE junk food lol. It's just that I get sick really often and for a few days I had been eating healthy and I felt really good during that time and as soon as I stopped I started to get all bleh again and threw up the very next day. So my boyfriend suggested that I try eating healthy for a longer amount of time and see if it has a positive effect on my health, and so far it has. |

The basic idea for slowing your metabolism down enough you can reach a healthy weight is this: Quote: Q: I need to gain weight. How? A: For a healthy weight, don't pig out on sweets/fats/etc. It may not be obvious to you, but it'll be awful to your insides.
If it's a metabolism issue, normalize your eating schedule and amount, which should help it become steady. Eat more carbs/protein.
Working out will also help you. | |

I really don't have a normal eating schedule at all so I'll start working on that over the next few days. I'm also going to start working out really soon. I'm currently trying to see if I can get a gym membership and if that's a no go I'm going to get some weights and stuff that I can use here. |

I have a few workouts in that link provided if you want to try any of them. But remember not to overexert yourself at first; otherwise you'll just end up sore and pretty deterred. |

Basically you have to eat more calories then your body needs.
Oats, Rice, Pasta, Chicken, Beef, Milk, Yoghurt, Eggs, cheese, butter, bananas etc etc etc you can find so many more on google.
I have put on 8.5kg since november which is 18.7 pounds. Thats only 3 months.
Im doing that for the gym though, so its becoming muscle mass, yours will become fat if you dont.

Money: 328 | Re: Gaining weight and eating healthy? As mentioned above, whether you lose or gain weight is dependent upon whether you are consuming less or more calories than your body burns. With that being said, all calories are not created equal. A candy bar and a lean chicken breast could have the same calorie value, but which is going to give you a better chance of gaining lean body mass (as opposed to body fat)? I think you know the answer.
If you want to get serious about gaining weight in a healthy manner (i.e. by exercising and having a solid nutritional program), let me know and I will go into detail with some strategies for you. |

Do some muscle toning activies; weights for example
Eat foods high in protein, carbs and good fats.
Good fats come from things such as peanuts, fish oil, vegetable fats. Not animal fat. |
