I need help, i am 16 and 12 and a half stone, i aint happy!! i strongly believe if i was slimmer i would be much much happier!! I cannot, no matter how hard i try, go longer than a week without junk food, i always say "i will exercise today" but i never do, i bought a step machine and can only go on it for about half an hour and then i give up, help me!! i need to be slim i am seriously unhappy like this, constantly trying to find clothes to cover my belly and not being able to wear skirts in summer because i have huge legs!! I tried to many diets and never stick to them , what was the most effective way for you??
xx
Naturally, I have high metabolism, but I still workout to keep muscle on and build my endurance. If you find you don't have the mental fortitude to keep yourself on the step machine, try hiring a trainer because they will push you through a workout. I am the same way, at home on my Bowflex, it is almost like I have ADD and I can't do anything for more than 10 minutes. I go to a trainer 4 days a week and he makes sure I don't give up early. Also, find something you enjoy that involves excercise. I love to mountain bike, so I will frequently go on trails where there is about 5 miles of straight uphill and then a reward on the other end (for example, 4 miles of straight downhill with a nice view of the ocean) and that keeps me fit and lets me enjoy the hundreds of trails within the Santa Monica Mountains. With regards to food, you just need to cut the crap out of your diet and eat healthy things. Take some supplements too, like Omega 3 fish oil and a multivitamin.
A step machine can kind of get boring. I think you should just try walking outside. You get to look around at everything, so it distracts you and won't think "ugh exercising"...It's much more enjoyable and I think more effective. Just make sure you walk briskly, just enough to where you can't carry a clear conversation with someone. It'll keep your heart rate up at a steady pace rather than running and stopping, so it'll be more effective in weight loss.
Yes, you do have to cut back in junk food. But I think you can still treat yourself to a few treats occasionally. When you do enjoy a treat, just make the portion smaller. It is hard to cut back at first, but you just have to find the motivation to do it. And slowly cut back. Maybe begginning with only allowing your self to have 1 soda/treat a week. Or if you need to adjust it to how you need to work from it and slowly cut back.
It helps if you tell people, parents and friends, what you're tying to do and they can hold you accountable for eating healthy and working out. And setting a lot of small goals rather than a large goal that seems impossible seems to give better motivation.
Something I did years ago and it worked. Eating an apple 30 minutes before a meal. I read a study on it and tried it and it actually worked. If you eat an apple 30 mins before a meal, it'll help you to be less hungry when you eat a meal. So you end up eating smaller portions rather than going for seconds at dinner. And if I got hungry between meals I would just eat a fruit or carrots and celery.
If you want something a little sweet, fruits (strawberries are my favorite) with a little bit of whipped cream is always good to have. Whipped cream is like 25 calories for 2 tablespoons.. it's nothing.
I know it's frustrating at first, but you can do it! :0)
Just force your self to do it and eventually it'll become easier to want to do it.
I hope this helps you a little.
For Top Body - Ab king pro - 2/3 minutes a day, Full workout (quite cheap)
For Legs - Walking/Jogging/GYM - Try go out more with friends, join a club or so.
I suggest giving swimming a try and watching how much sugar you eat. But find what ever activity that you enjoy doing because if you enjoy doing it you are more likely to keep it up. Yoga is also fun.
i no what u guys are going to say, but on sunday, i tried to puke and it just wouldn't come. I've never had an eating disorder, but I hate excersizing and I really want to lose a few pounds, so i thought that this would be helpful. plus, i hadn't barfed in like 5 years so my body wasn't used to it. any tips?
Wow ineedunow69! That is definitly the wrong way to go. Honestly I've thought about that once but you ruin your body AND you just take the easy way out! I definitly agree with Rachyboos advice.
well i've decided not to go that route anyways. i think it was because i was scared that i would actually become bulimic. so i guess that actually kept it down. idk.
I lost about 30 pounds by just eating better, running every day and I love to dance so I do that alot I also like to swim. find things you like to do they gets you moving and stick with it. and drink alot of water also if you are eating good and doing what I said and dont lose weight right away, its still a good path because being healthy is not all about being skinny.
I'm not too sure i can eat till i fall over and will only lose weight, but i do, do my daily push ups & sit ups i like the feel of having aching muscles makes me feel like i've done something. yes i'm strange.
My advice is just to exercise daily & try joining a gym or go swimming like some people said above.
