I should owe many hours to the gym gods, but...
I am 5'7 and weigh a whopping 92 pounds(I lost 12 pounds on my vacation somehow D: ). The problem though, is that what weight I do have is all flab. So I have this problem of being way too thin but ...soft. I dont know exactly how to go about fixing this problem. I don't like the look of a bulky muscle figure, so I have always been apprehensive of weightlifting and am a cardio queen. I also dont want to eat more because gaining fat would not be the most enviable solution to me.
Is there anything I do exercise wise or supplements I can take to gain some weight but not fat weight?
I sound really ignorant I'm sure, but I never worried about this until now. I look gross, haha.

Re: I should owe many hours to the gym gods, but...
well if you don't weightlift and you start eating more or taking weight gain supplements you will probably gain more fat than muscle. since your goal is not to get big muscles, do a weight lifting routine but eat alot of "clean protein". what i mean by clean protein is eat alot of high protein low fat foods. that way you can gain some muscle and not as much fat. also keep doing alot of cardio. this should help

then once you have gained sufficient weight, stop weightlifting but continue cardio and continue eating "clean protein" as if you were still weightlifting. that way you will weigh enough but will lose excess fat, and you will keep some muscle but it wont be huge.

Ok I have another question for you.
I'm a vegetarian...do you have any ideas for protein other than obviously meat and soy?

Re: I should owe many hours to the gym gods, but...
well if you want to gain weight but not fat weight than you have to gain muscle which weight training would help. Cardio will help tone your muscles but not build alot. Now i race triathlons and have some pretty tone legs but very lean. But even cardio would probably help you add muscle weight im 5'5 and 120 pounds with 13 percent body fat. 15-25 is normal so i have very low fat and im still alot more weight so i guess cardio does help !! I would suggest changing your diet (eating more eggs, chicken, broccoli, protein) Try resistance training 2 times a week to add a little muscle but not much (also females really dont have to worry about gaining alot of muscle mass unless they are hard core since the female body really doesnt add much mass especially to the arms) With resistance training females gain strenght as quickly as males but not necessarly mass. I would continue your cardio 5 times a week. Anymore questions ask im an exercise science major studying to be a personal trainer and i been an triathlete for 3 years. so i have some experience in the field of fitness.

Eggs is good but not EVERY morning. They do have cholesterol which can build plaque in the arteries (athlerscleosis). Just dont overdo it. Try to get more protein from plant base sources for best health.

Re: I should owe many hours to the gym gods, but...
Dont do what most people do and eat the eggs raw, some dcases people get salmonela, But that is in some cases. Just take carbs and eat the right meats, if you grill meat you take all the fat out of it so it is much healthier, then just do your usual work out so just do circuits like press up, sit up, crunches, lunges the hole shabang basicaly. but if you are putting on fat weight just do CV (cadiovascular) like hill sprints or Grid runs, or just do a few miles to burn off the fat, a good way of taking off unnessacery fat is to weat lots of layers of cloths, or just wear a rain coat so that way you lose alot of weight when running because you get quite hot.
