I was anorexic for a time. Not for the sake of losing weight, but as another form of self-harm. I was down to 86 pounds, and they threatened to hospitalise me if I didn't start eating. So that went out the window. But I still slip into it without realising sometimes.

But seriously people, it's not "addicting." You can't be addicted to not eating. Do you go into spasms if you eat? No, you don't. Granted, it has to be stopped gradually in order to prevent making our bodies sick, but that's not addiction, that's just our bodies being accustomed to something it shouldn't be to begin with.Truer words were never spoken.

I am anorexic, and have been for going on two years. I tried recovery, but got hated myself even more for the weight I gained and my loss of control. It was just so much easier to slip back to my old habits. And like Penny said, it becomes a part of you.

I know it's a disorder, but I don't want to change, and I'm used to living with it.

Goddess there are such things as physicological addictions. This is one of them. I know it sonds weird but its kind of true. And I guess it wouldn't be an addiction to not eating but an addiction to control. To be able to control your weiight and get the results you want. I wouldn't say that I'm exactly addicted to throwing up. Its hard to tell myself not to but I know I suffer withdrawls or anything. Duh.

I've thrown up for a time to purely just hurt myself so I know that side of it. And I've wanted to get so sknny just to tell everyone to F**k off. But if you've never literally spiraled out of control and not known your doing it.... i dunno. Not the easiest thing to explain.

Um. That didn't entirely make sense, so I'm going to assume you meant you do suffer withdrawal symptoms. And, if that's the case, again, your body is reacting to doing something it's not used to doing. I never eat breakfast (out of laziness), and, when I do, I feel sick. Does that mean I'm addicted to not eating breakfast? No, it means my body isn't used to it. And when I don't talk to my ex, my mood suffers. Does that mean I'm addicted to talking to him? No, it means I like it and I miss him when I don't, and that I'm used to talking to him all the time.

Saying things that we can control (without serious physical repercussions) are addictions is an excuse and a scapegoat. It's a way to take the blame off ourselves for being dumb shits. Nothing more.

2) You realise how hard it is to die from them? A person will pass out long before they die, so they'd have had to been in at least a hospital - if not rehab - at least once. It's not like they just randomly die.
