Do you think that the BMI is always accurate?

I am 16 and 6' 2". In the last year I have lost about 25 pounds, but according to the BMI I am "overweight" by about 3/4 of a point(.6 to .75 over depending on which website I use). I am not really idealistically toned, but I don't think that I am really overweight. What I wanted to know is, do you think that the BMI scale of weight measure is something that is finite and always accurate, or not always accurate?

Re: Do you think that the BMI is always accurate?

Im considered morbidly obese by BMI charts, however my bodyfat is 7 percent. you can see veins and striations in my chest for gods sake. my quads are so seperated I can fit a coin between the different muscles, GTFO.

Re: Do you think that the BMI is always accurate?

BMI says that I range from slightly underweight to "normal." While I'm thin, I definitely wouldn't call myself underweight either.

No it's not since it doesn't take into consideration that so people are going to weigh more but be really muscular as muscle weighs more than fat.

Re: Do you think that the BMI is always accurate?

BMI scales don't take into account bone densities, body fat percentages or muscle mass. so no it's not even close to accurate

No, it doesn't take into account a lot of things, such as muscle weight.
