Is it safe to consume poultry products?

Recently I read an article about the bird flu disease. I had heard about this disease before but never paid too much attention to it. But with what I have read and the number of people who have lost their lives because of this disease, I was shocked. Nowadays I get a strange feeling when I eat chicken or other poultry products and when I see birds I remember the avian bird flu disease. I don’t know what’s happening to me. Has something like this happened with anyone before?

Re: Is it safe to consume poultry products?

Heya
I think (from what I've read and from my mum who works in the health profession) that it *is* safe to eat poultry. It is extremely hard to contract bird flu. (I think) You have to have had prolonged exposure to infected birds and it is very very very unlikely that you'll catch it from eating poultry unless you don't cook it properly/ eat it raw and it happens to be an infected bird... which again is relatively unlikely.
(someone please correct me if i'm wrong)
Hope this is some help
